It feels weird to be finding joy at the end of the world, but I’m glad to be sharing it with you.

Y'all.

Y'ALL.

Six days.

People say we shouldn’t let them steal our joy—the fascists, the white supremacists, the TERFs, the Republicans, and everyone who would rather see a queer polyam trans woman of color gone. Joy is what we live for, people say, joy reminds us of what we are fighting for. A joy shared is doubled and a sorrow shared is halved, people say.

I hope you are feeling the joy that I feel because it only took six fucking days for the fundraiser to reach and pass the $20,000 goal.

And I was not prepared for the outpouring of all the amazing and kind things everyone said about me! I don’t know that I saw everything because I wasn’t even tagged in many of people’s tweets and messages, but I will be remembering them and holding them close to my heart in hard times.

I feel so very loved.

Thank you.

I have three other requests during recovery:

  1. Let me know if you’re available to chat or text for the few months after surgery. Mental health support is one of the biggest things that often gets overlooked during recovery. Since I will be stuck inside, mostly in bed, it can be isolating, especially during COVID times. Having people who I can message and just talk to would mean a lot. (Maybe I’ll start up a Slack or Discord or something.)

  2. Let me know if you are able to come help during recovery (daytime visits or staying for a little while). While I shouldn’t really have major medical needs and can move around the apartment on my own by the middle of the second month, I will still need some help around the house and more importantly getting to the doctor’s office for my follow up appointments (basically someone to make sure I don’t fall when I get in and out of the taxi and such). I should probably write a little more in depth on what recovery looks like, huh?

  3. I am setting up a dedicated minecraft (or another open-world game) to help distract me during recovery. Let me know if you’re interested in joining or have set one up before!

Seven weeks to go go goooooooo~

One-hundred-fourty-seven.

That’s how many days I have until I arrive at Mt. Sinai for bottom surgery. That’s how many days I have until I trade in my factory standard external equipment for something internal. You would assume that I am excited and happy. All the... Continue →
